Ever since he made it to the league, Russell Wilson has proved that he’s one of the greatest quarterbacks in NFL history. He’s the true definition of dual-threat and a guy who has a feel for stepping up when it matters the most.
However, it seems like somehow we tend to overlook him or take him for granted. Either because of the run-heavy offense the Seattle Seahawks used to feature or just because we can’t fathom the fact that a modern quarterback is as good – if not better – as old-school guys like Drew Brees, Aaron Rodgers, or Tom Brady.
Truth be told, Wilson is an elite gunslinger. He can do it all on the gridiron, scramble with a long run, throw on the run, shake off pressure, or dominate in the pocket like the best of them. There are no flaws in his game, and he knows it.
Russell Wilson Says He’s The Best Quarterback In The NFL Without A Doubt
A couple of days beforehis Sunday Night Football matchup with the New England Patriots, Wilson told Dan Patrick that he thinks he’s the best in the league: “Do I think I’m the best quarterback in the NFL?I believe so, without a doubt.”
And as all great players do, Russell Wilson backed up the talk in the field with a 35-30 big win at home over the Patriots. He completed 21 out of 28 passes for 288 yards, 5 touchdowns, 1 INT, and added 5 rushes for 39 yards, so yeah, he’s definitely right there at the top of the league.
It’s still pretty early to tell but it seems like Pete Carroll has finally given Wilson the keys of the offense. The ‘Let Russ cook’ offseason campaign worked and the Seahawks are finally a pass-heavy team that can make the most of speedsters like Tyler Locket and DK Metcalf.
