The day has come. The Seattle Seahawks have finally decided to part ways with star quarterback Russell Wilson by sending him to the Denver Broncos in a blockbuster NFL trade, as reported by Adam Schefter and Tom Pelissero

The deal - which is still pending a phyisical and the QB's approval - sees the Broncos make a huge upgrade at quarterback, a position where they lacked a reliable player since Peyton Manning left, while the Seahawks surrendered the Super Bowl winning QB to begin rebuild.

"Blockbuster: The #Seahawks and #Broncos have agreed in principle on a trade sending nine-time Pro Bowl QB Russell Wilson to Denver for a massive haul, including multiple first-round draft picks, plus additional picks and players, per sources," Tom Pelissero wrote.

Russell Wilson traded from Seahawks to Broncos

The Broncos were keen on bringing in a franchise quarterback. Aaron Rodgers was heavily linked with a move to Mile High but he will stay at the Green Bay Packers, although that has apparently not been the reason behind this trade.

"Denver general manager George Paton initiated trade talks with Seattle for Wilson at least two weeks ago, per sources," Schefter reported. Besides first-round selections and other picks, Seattle will players in return. According to Pelissero, Drew Lock is one of them. This would be the full deal:

  • Broncos get: Russell Wilson, a fourth-rounder
  • Seahawks get: Drew Lock, Noah Fant, Shelby Harris, two first-rounders, two second-rounders, and a fifth-rounder

Heartbreaking as it might be for Seahawks fans, this move makes sense for both parties. Denver may have added the piece they were missing to become legit contenders, while Seattle can start from scratch.
