Fanbases in sports are very hardcore. In fact, if you support a team, you might as well support all the teams from that city across American sports. This is why people were sent into a frenzy after Houston Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud was comfortably wearing another team’s hat during the last preseason game.
If you are playing for Houston, then you need to be all Houston. Stroud appeared wearing a Seattle Mariners hat, team from the MLB. However, not only is that team not from Houston, but are actually fighting with the Astros for the first place in their division. In other words, Mariners and Astros are direct rivals.
When asked about it, Stroud laughed it off. “Like, I wear hats all the time. I probably have every team. But I support the Astros and the Dodgers because I’m from L.A. It’s kind of contradicting but I still love the Astros. But it’s all good. I understand. It’s all about the swag, baby. I’m just kidding,” Stroud said.
Houston fans on social media weren’t having it
Looking at the replies on X, you can see Houson fans are still not happy about it. “There’s no swag whenever someone wears a mariners hat,” HoustonSportsMuse tweeted.
Other users were emphatic. “You want “Swag”? Win a Super Bowl!” said Barbara Leon. One thing is true, if Stroud delivers a Super Bowl for the Texans, he could wear any hat he want and there would be no complains from Houston fans.

Stroud needs to bounce back this season
Stroud had a very impressive NFL rookie season but then he fell victim to the sophomore slump. Now, with new receivers and a revamped offensive line, Stroud should be back at his best.
His best weapon is Nico Collins, but the team drafted the two wideouts from Iowa State. Jayden Higgins shows a similar profile to Collins, while Jaylin Noel is more of a speedy, smaller receiver. Houston also signed veteran Christian Kirk and former Chief, Justin Watson.
