The Kansas City Chiefs are gearing up for the 2025 NFL season with Travis Kelce leading the way as one of their main leaders. The veteran tight end, now the oldest player on Andy Reid’s roster at 35 years old, hasn’t lost his hunger for success and delivered a strong message to the rest of the league.

Kelce is entering his 13th season with a newly extended two-year, $34.25 million contract with the Chiefs and is coming off a season where he recorded 97 receptions for 823 yards and three touchdowns. Even though last year wasn’t his best individually, his ultimate goal remains clear.

Reid and the Chiefs’ front office want to make it clear that they’re committed to pushing even further next season. A dynasty built on a core of veterans like Patrick Mahomes has now been joined by young talents such as Xavier Worthy and Hollywood Brown. In this context, Kelce is sending a warning about what’s to come.

Kelce’s warning

During a recent appearance at the American Century Championship, Kelce was straightforward in defining the team’s goal: “Obviously, just win the Super Bowl. We made it all the way to advance and just gotta finish.” His statement isn’t just a show of confidence, but a warning to all the other contenders for the Vince Lombardi Trophy.

Kelce prepares for an intense preseason

“I think we have an unbelievable room coming back. Obviously amazing coaches, amazing leadership in the organization. I’m just excited to get back after it and kind of rebuild this team as we do every year,” Kelce added in the interview. After a period of uncertainty about his future, he’s set to be a key piece on a roster hungry for glory.

With preseason right around the corner, Kelce’s message sets the tone for what they hope will be an explosive year. Reid has already said his players will need to get their legs ready for a demanding training camp. After a failed attempt at a three-peat, the 2025 NFL season is their chance to get back to chasing their unfinished dream.
