Mitch Marner left the Toronto Maple Leafs, and now it’s time to begin a new and challenging chapter for the Canadian team. After the shocking trade with the Golden Knights, Auston Matthews needs help.
Now, a report from Elliotte Friedman indicates that one of the possible options for the Leafs to strengthen during free agency could be Jack Roslovic. “It makes sense to me because he has a history with Auston Matthews. They played together at the U.S. national development team. So, I could see this connection. Jack Roslovic is also a right-hand shot. You know he is a veteran. He’s been around a long time and Matthews obviously knows him. I’m curious to see if that happens.”
Despite the criticism toward Marner for not being able to lead Toronto to a Stanley Cup, his departure is a massive blow for the Maple Leafs. After the crushing playoff defeat against Brad Marchand and the Florida Panthers, there is no room for error.
Why is Mitch Marner leaving the Leafs?
Mitch Marner has publicly stated that he left the Leafs to try to chase the Stanley Cup with the Vegas Golden Knights. In fact, his comments sparked a lot of controversy, as they hinted that he wasn’t convinced Toronto had a championship-caliber roster.
Marner also said that he made the decision to move from Toronto to Las Vegas for family reasons, and that his wife had a major influence on it. Since the past Four Nations tournament, Mitch had spoken with several Golden Knights players about the lifestyle in the city, and that was a key factor.
