Crosby has been a cornerstone of Canada’s national team for more than a decade, leading in multiple championships, including the 2010 Vancouver and 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics. His ability to connect with both young players and veterans alike has been key to his ongoing success.
With the 2026 Olympics approaching, Crosby remains focused on his role as a team leader. His goal is not only to compete for the gold medal but also to ensure that the legacy of leadership and excellence in Canadian hockey continues to grow for future generations.
Crosby’s statement on the new generation
“These guys are so ready now when they come in at such a young age, so they probably don’t need to hear much, but I’m here if they need it,” Crosby said to the young players of Team Canada in an interview with NHL.com, including Bedard of the Chicago Blackhawks.

“Whether it’s your teammates, Canadian players, or just young players in general, I think you can relate to a lot of what these guys have gone through. I had guys who were really important in helping me adjust and, hopefully, accelerate my progress as best as possible. That’s part of playing a team sport. It’s a great thing about the game. Hopefully I can do the same,” said three-time Stanley Cup champion Crosby.
