The Winnipeg Jets want to compete for the Stanley Cup next season and, after a very painful playoff loss against the Dallas Stars, the team’s front office has started making the necessary moves to remain contenders.
The Jets had an impressive start last season with 14 wins in their first 15 games, which was a record in NHL history. However, they were unable to take the next big step despite holding the best record in the Western Conference.
The prestigious Presidents’ Trophy left a bittersweet feeling in Winnipeg, as the expectations it created were sky-high. Now, it’s time for the team to stay the course and fight to bring a championship to the city.
Who did the Winnipeg Jets sign?
The Winnipeg Jets signed Haydn Fleury to keep him on the roster following his solid performances, particularly on defense. It’s a two-year, $1.9 million contract extension for the player.
“The Winnipeg Jets Hockey Club have agreed to terms with defenceman Haydn Fleury on a two-year contract with an average annual value in the NHL of $950,000. Fleury, 28, posted seven assists in 39 games with the Jets during the 2024-25 campaign. The Carlyle, Sask. product added two helpers in eight games during the Stanley Cup Playoffs.”
