While Brady Tkachuk recovers from his injury, the Ottawa Senators showed they are ready to compete in the 2024–25 NHL playoffs. Coach Travis Green’s team defeated the Montreal Canadiens 5–2, leaving several positives to take away.
The Senators were 5 points ahead of Montreal for the playoff spot with three games to go. The Ottawa team played all of April without Tkachuk, one of their stars, and proved that they are up to the challenge of the current competition.
Coach Green shared a strong message after the win over the Canadiens: “I don’t want to say I challenged our team, but I talked to our group about where our game was at and where it needs to get to. This was going to be as close to a playoff-like game as we were going to get before the end of the regular season and we treated it that way,” said coach Green.
When will Brady Tkachuk play again?
The Senators forward continues working his way back from the upper-body injury he sustained during the 1–0 overtime loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins. This week, he returned to the ice and went through some movements as he aims to make his comeback as soon as possible.

Brady Tkachuk #7 of the Ottawa Senators skates against the Washington Capitals during the first period at Capital One Arena on March 03, 2025 in Washington, DC.
“I need to make sure I’m ready physically, because mentally I’ve been waiting for this moment. But I’m not worried about that. Feeling good, yeah, progressing day in and day out. My focus is feeling good today. I think I’m starting to skate again these days, so I’m excited about that. Just going to continue to get better every single day,” Tkachuk had said last Thursday, according to NHL.com.

Regarding his recovery timeline, the Senators forward was clear. “I don’t think I’d ever miss an opportunity to play in the playoffs, but I’m not looking too far in advance. I’m looking forward to skating tomorrow, feeling good and going from there,” he said.
