Gold Cup 2021: Roldan brothers eager to meet at the tournament

A soccer player could set high goals for his career, representing the national team would be one of them for sure. Others can imagine themselves stepping into the field with one of their relatives, for those who are lucky enough to embark on professional soccer alongside a sibling. Then you see the even more fortunate ones who become club teammates.

That’s the case of the Roldan brothers, who have the pleasure of sharing the daily drills, locker room, trips, and games with the Seattle Sounders in MLS. However, at the international stage, they took separate ways. Cristian, the older brother, represents the USMNT, while Alex plays for El Salvador.

The brothers sat down with Concacaf in an exclusive interview to discuss their sensations in the 2021 Gold Cup so far and have addressed the possibility of facing each other in the tournament, something they’d be looking forward to doing.

The pair have gotten along and have enjoyed sharing unforgettable moments within the Sounders organization, making the dream of playing together come true. Their passion drove them to the highest level and now they find themselves on the quest for glory in the 2021 Gold Cup.

Both Cristian and Alex were interviewed by the official website of Concacaf ahead of the tournament’s knockout stages. The US and El Salvador have booked their places in the quarterfinals after a great start to the competition.
