Inter Miami have had a much more positive start to 2021 than they did in 2020, the Miami club have a record of 1-2-1 (W-D-L) and currently sit ninth in the Eastern Conference standings. Nonetheless it is still very early in the season and the club has played a very tight but attacking minded style of soccer.

Phil Neville’s is always looking to strengthen his team and according to reports from The Sun in England, Inter Miami have put their sights on a former England international full back who is currently with Inter Milan.

Said player has been with Inter Milan since 2020 and has played in 42 games for the black and blue helping capture their first Serie A title since 2009/2010. Find out more about Inter Miami’s English target!

Ashley Young on Inter Miami’s radar

Ashley Young is the player in question, at 35 years of age it is doubtful the former Manchester United player will demand a DP or high salary if he were to be signed. Since arriving at Inter Milan in 2020, Young has scored 4 goals and has been used as a bit player.

Young is also a target for his first club, Watford, in October, Young spoke to Watford fans in the Golden Tales podcast and stated: "If I could go back and play there [at Watford] again, I would walk from Italy right now. Because it's what I know, it's where I come from and it's what allowed me to be who I am and get where I am. For me, at my age now, and you can ask my family, you can ask my agent, if I had the opportunity to go back and finish my career at Watford, I would jump at the chance."

Inter Miami has not been shy in bringing in experienced players to help bolster their squad, the club has long time MLS standout, Federico Higuaín and French World Cup winner Blaise Matuidi on the roster.

Young has won six championships in his career, 5 of them with Manchester United, he also helped Watford gain promotion to the Premier League back in 2006. At the international level Young played 39 times for England from 2007-2018 playing in the 2012 Euros.

Ashley Young’s Inter Milan contract ends in the summer and if he were to move to MLS or any other team it would be on a free transfer. The question is where he will go, back to England or Miami.
