Mexico returned to soccer action in 2021 traveling to Europe to face International Friendlies. Gerardo Martino's side rested for some months between November of 2020 until March from this year when they faced Wales and Costa Rica abroad. The Mexico national team's schedule will bring more challenges, though.

El Tricolor remained unbeaten in last year's matches, as they defeated Guatemala, Netherlands, South Korea, and Japan, and tied with Algeria. However, that streak was put to an end a few days ago by Wales, in Mexico's first clash in a while.

Still, the team coached by Gerardo Martino recovered in the next game of the international window beating Costa Rica by a one-goal margin. Even though it was a friendly, the win was important for the Mexican side to gain confidence ahead of the important tasks ahead.

Mexico's next game in 2021

The next game for Mexico will be the Concacaf Nations League semifinal against Costa Rica on June 3, 2021. They will face the same opponent they've beaten recently, so that win could be a boost for Martino's players before such an important duel.

The finals of the tournament will be decided in one-game series, without having the chance for a second-leg. That's why Mexico will have to be prepared for that crucial match.

The Tricolor have deservedly made their way up to this round of the inaugural Concacaf Nations League. In the previous stage, they finished atop the group in great fashion. El Tri were undefeated and won very game. Soon, they are going to clash with Costa Rica aiming to book a spot in the final.
