Defending champions Mexico will come against Honduras in the Gold Cup 2021 quarterfinals on Saturday, July 24. While El Tri won Group A with two wins and a draw, Honduras came second in Group D after losing against Qatar in the final match.
Mexico didn’t have the best start in the tournament after they were held by Trinidad and Tobago in a 0-0 draw, however El Tri got better and won their two last matches against El Salvador (1-0) and Guatemala (3-0).
On the other hand, Honduras qualified for the knockout stage after winning their first two matches: 4-0 against Grenada, and 3-2 against Panama in a very tight match.
