It was something that seemed possible and it was finally confirmed: the Premier League has announced that clubs won't allow their players to travel for international duty in places that are in the UK's red-list countries.

The shocking news means various renowned players will have to stay in England while their national teams have to manage to take care of business without them. Brazil will have to replace eight players, while Argentina will miss four, and Colombia three.

The decision was based on the 10-day quarantine these players would have to face when they return from the international break, which was also extended from nine to eleven days by South American soccer governing body Conmebol.

Fans react as Premier League forbids players from playing for red-listed countries in the UK

Nearly 60 players will be affected by this measure, being most of them from South America but others like Mohamed Salah would be also disallowed from taking part in their respective African national teams.

Unlike fans from the red-list countries who aren't happy at all with this decision, supporters from Premier League teams went wild on the Internet celebrating their clubs' best players would stay:

The pandemic is still taking a toll on our lives and, although we are watching packed stadiums every weekend in the Premier League, other countries are far from reaching that situation. And this time, the English clubs have decided not to risk missing their players any longer.
