This Tuesday, July 6, seven-time Super Bowl champion Tom Brady and 2021 PGA Championship winner and World Golf Hall of Famer Phil Mickelson are teaming up again for Capital One’s The Match, a live golf event series for charity. This time they will try to take on 2020 US Open champion Bryson DeChambeau and Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

This will be the fourth edition of the charity event, and the second time Mickelson and Brady paired. They played last May against 18-time World Golf Championships winner Tiger Woods and two-time Super Bowl champion Peyton Manning, and they lost by only one hole.

However, they will try to win this time, especially after they have teased their rivals on social media. But, of course, Rodgers and DeChambeau are going to put up resistance. After this event, Rogers is expected to attend the American Century Championship and he will try to do it as The Match champion.

The Match: Storylines

For this event, the format will be the modified alternate-shot. So, each individual player will tee off and teams will decide which ball to use and alternate shots from there. As expected, Mickelson and DeChambeau will be the ones to carry their teams.

This past weekend Mickelson and DeChambeau participated in the Rocket Mortgage Classic. While Mickelson tied for 74th place, DeChambeau missed the cut. On the other hand, both Brady and Rodgers are solid golfers but the format might be difficult for them.

But, let’s be honest, golf is not the only attraction here. As in the previous editions, the participants will wear microphones to provide audio access for TV. So, the entertainment will be in the talk between teams and competitors.
