Many Americans and people from all around the world are learning about the best athletes from a range of different sports asTokyo 2020isunderway. United States‘team equestrian competitorJessica Springsteenfrom New Jersey and a well-known family, is one of those prominent names.

As a first-time Olympian, Jessica Springsteen is establishing her own name in the equestrian sport of jumping. This year, the daughter of Bruce Springsteen andPatti Scialfa had great success in a village in Florida named Wellington, and across Europe.

She still has to show herself to have a shot at a medal, though, because only three of the four United Statesriders are eligible to compete in both the individual and team competition.

When does Jessica Springsteen compete at the Olympics?

As defined by the U.S. Equestrian Federation, Jessica is rated 27th in the world in show jumping – the equestrian equivalent of the pole vault, and high jump events in the sport of track and field.Her horse, Don Juan van de Donkhoeve, is a 12-year-old Belgian Warmblood.

Springsteen will compete as part of a four-man jumping squad from August 3 to August 7.Only three riders and horses can compete at each event in Japan, despite four riders and horses qualifying. The poorest of the four scores would be disqualified. Kent Farrington, Laura Kraut, and two-time gold medalist McLain Ward make up the four-member equestrian jumping team that Jessica is now a part of. Both the individual and team competitions will be held on August3 and August 4, respectively.

At a speed of around 15 miles per hour, riders and their horses will race over a course of 12 to 14 obstacles that range in height from 1.4m (4 ft7 in) to 1.65m (5 ft4 in). Springsteen and Don will have to knock off one of their more experienced colleagues for a berth in the competitions. In 2016, the Americans won a silver medal in show jumping and won back-to-back golds in 2008 and 2004.
