Mirra Andreeva captured her second consecutive WTA 1000 title, defeating World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka 2-6, 6-4, 6-3 in the BNP Paribas Open final. Beyond joining Serena Williams and other legends with her victory, the title also shakes up the Top 10 rankings.

The 17-year-old Russian breaks into the Top 6 for the first time in her career, adding 990 points over the past two weeks. Meanwhile, Sabalenka, despite falling in the final, earns 530 points to reach 9,606—nearly 2,000 ahead of Iga Swiatek—securing her position as World No. 1.

Swiatek (2) and Coco Gauff (3) experience significant point drops but maintain their respective rankings, as do Jessica Pegula (fourth) and Madison Keys (fifth). Meanwhile, Spain’s No. 1 Paula Badosa will fall out of the Top 10, landing in the Top 11.

The teenage phenom rallied from a set down to win her 12th consecutive match, following her breakthrough WTA 1000 title last month at the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships. In both runs, she had an incredible win, beating Top 10 players such as Sabalenka, Swiatek, Svitolina and more.

Andreeva is now the second-youngest player to defeat both the World No. 1 and No. 2 in the semifinals and final of a WTA 1000, Tier 1, or Grand Slam event since the WTA rankings were introduced in 1975—only Tracy Austin at the 1979 US Open was younger, according to OptaAce.

She was World No. 3, won the US Open, but shockingly retired at only 26: ‘I was no longer happy’
