In 2024, the Texas Longhorns will debut in the SEC in a pivotal NCAA Football season for Steve Sarkisian and the team. As the competition gets tougher and the lights brighter, more sights are set on <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/arch-manning">Arch Manning</a>, the backup 5-star quarterback. The Longhorns head coach has issued a strong and positive message on the Manning’s third-generation quarterback.



Although Quinn Ewers has the starting job in <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/texas-longhorns">Texas</a>, his injury background and Arch Manning’s progress could turn the scale and a quarterback change could take place anytime during the college football season. On foresight, Arch’s playing opportunities would present themselves in blowouts when Ewers is taken off the field. However, Peyton and Eli’s nephew has impressed the coaching staff over at Austin, Texas.



“He is light years ahead of where he was last year at this time,” Sarkisian said about Manning. “His understanding of what we’re trying to do offensively, the nuances of the scheme, the timing of certain throws, the protections. All of those things. I just think his overall comfort level and confidence is much higher than a year ago at this time.“



Arch Manning is one of the biggest names in <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/college-football">college football</a> right now. And thus, the speculation around him is huge. Nobody can wait to see him on the field and in the biggest stages. However, the 19-year old is still maturing and evolving his game and perhaps his best place, at the moment, is learning on the sideline. His time will come, sooner rather than later and until then the Longhorns will roll with Quinn Ewers as their signal caller.

<h2>Johntay Cook received similar praise from Sirkasian</h2>



The Texas 2023 recruiting class was perhaps overshadowed by Manning’s presence. However three other stars recruited have made an immediate imapct on the program. Running back CJ Baxter and Linebacker Anthony Hill have jumped straight onto the field. Whereas Johntay Cook has had a more cautious approach, like Manning. Sitting behind cemented players, Johntay and Arch have been learning at an incredible rate.



“He can play any position on the field and I think that’s where he creates a lot of value for himself,” Sarkisian commented on Cook and explained that, like Manning “he is light years ahead” than where he stood at this time of the season last year. 



<h2>When could Manning get playing time?</h2>



The <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/ncaa">NCAA</a> football schedule provides for a great amount of upsets and shocking results. However, more times than less, the best teams prevail over those not as deep or talented. Unless Ewers sustains an injury, Manning’s best odds at playing time rely on his team blowing out their opponent and sending the backups onto the field.

College Football is at its dawn and the spotlight is on many star youngsters set to make the headlines this upcoming season. On that note Drew Brees has some advice for Texas Longhorns redshirt freshman <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/arch-manning">Arch Manning</a> and his preparation for future NFL career. The retired QB suggested he follows Patrick Mahomes and Aaron Rodgers‘ example. 



The 2024 <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/ncaa">NCAA</a> season will be a defining year in Steve Sarkisian’s system for Arch. He will be in consideration to start for the first time since joining the Longhorns in 2023 and so his journey to the NFL truly commences. The 5-star recruit has made the headlines ever since his high school years at his family’s alma mater, Isidore Newman School. 



Super Bowl XLIV winner and 13-time Pro Bowler Drew Brees has shared his thoughts on Arch’s upcoming year and future at the college level. Along those lines, Brees offered some shocking advice to the Texas Longhorns’ quarterback. Even stating Manning could learn from <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/patrick-mahomes">Mahomes</a> and Rodgers teachings in the NFL. 



“You either start [in college] or sit for a few years in the NFL,” Brees said, via The Athletic. “Like a Patrick Mahomes even sits behind Alex Smith.<a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/aaron-rodgers"> Aaron Rodgers</a> sat for three years behind (Brett) Favre, right?”

<h2>Brees recommends Manning gets 50 quality starts prior to NFL debut</h2>



Despite Mahomes and Rodgers, those are just a handful of exhibits that have proven worthy. And so, Brees suggests Peyton and Eli’s nephew should play ’50 quality starts’ before starting on an NFL game. On 12-games <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/college-football">college</a> season, and amid matchups against unranked opponents, Manning should stay for half a decade with the Longhorns.

“The best thing for Arch Manning is to spend five years at the University of Texas,” <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/drew-brees">Brees</a> admitted. “Become an incredible leader for that team and make a run at some national championships. Then, he will be the most prepared going into the NFL at that point.“



Manning hasn’t started his first college game yet. So, although well noted and reliable, Brees’ guidance is looking way ahead into Arch’s career. And at the minute his main concern should be set on the task at hand, that is his team’s debut on Saturday August 31th versus Colorado State. Whether he starts or Quinn Ewers takes his place remains unknown. 



<h2>Brees comments on Texas football program under Steve Sarkisian</h2>



The former NFL superstar expressed his respect for the Longhorns’ project and admits Manning is in prime position to develop and enter the NFL as a leader, as well as a great player. The Purdue University product did not shy away from handing the University of Texas their deserved flowers on tutoring the exciting quarterback prospect.



“For him to just be in a system, be in a program, learn from one of the best QB developers in Steve Sarkisian and the rest of the staff that they’ve put together,” Drew Brees stated. “That’d be the best thing for him is just stay there, lock in, learn, grow, [and] develop.“

According to 247sports, Arch Manning was the No. 1 recruit in the 2023 class, which is a big boost to coach Steve Sarkisian’s tenure with Texas, with whom he had a disappointing 5-7 record in his first season.
