According to <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/philadelphia-76ers" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Philadelphia 76ers</a> insider Keith Pompey, GM Daryl Morey has put James near the top of his shopping list for the offseason in case they don’t land Paul George, their main target. 



<h2>The Sixers Could Target LeBron</h2>



“The Sixers do have their eyes on other lucrative-salary impact players just in case they don’t get George,” Pompey said. “That’s why they also are looking at potential free agents like the Los Angeles Lakers’ LeBron James and New York Knicks forward OG Anunoby.”

Per the report, Daryl Morey is going to add at least another star player to his roster, as they have more than enough assets to pull off a big trade if they strikeout in free agency:



“If not in free agency, the Sixers believe they can use their draft assets and available cap space to acquire a difference-maker via a trade. That has led to Miami Heat forward Jimmy Butler, Chicago Bulls guard Zach LaVine, and New Orleans Pelicans forward Brandon Ingram being among trade interests,” added Pompey.

With the conversations that I’ve had, it could be weeks, it could be months.”

Nonetheless, Embiid is well aware of how important he is to his team, so he’s not going to allow anything, not even this discomfort, to keep him off the floor in this series.

The Sixers were left fuming from the Madison Square Garden as the hosts turned things around in the final seconds.



In its Last Two Minute (L2M) report, the league states Tyrese Maxey was fouled both by Josh Hart and Jalen Brunson in the melee that resulted in Donte DiVincenzo’s three-pointer that put the <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/new-york-knicks">Knicks</a> ahead with 13.0 seconds to go.



“Brunson (NYK) pulls Maxey’s (PHI) jersey away from his body, which affects Maxey’s ability to secure the pass,” reads the report. “Hart (NYK) steps forward into Maxey’s (PHI) space and initiates lower body contact that causes Maxey to lose his balance and fall to the floor.”



In addition, the L2M report also admits 76ers head coach <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/nick-nurse">Nick Nurse</a> called for a timeout in those frenetic final seconds that “is neither recognized nor granted by the officials.”

<h2>Embiid ripped refs after second loss to Knicks</h2>



The Sixers left the Big Apple feeling they were prevented from putting things level in the series. Speaking to reporters after the game, <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/joel-embiid">Joel Embiid</a> put his team’s second loss on the referees.

“Everybody on the floor was trying to call a timeout,” Embiid said, via Sixers Wire. “Myself included. Nico (Batum), coach on the sideline, but they didn’t give it to us, but forget about a timeout. There’s a bunch of fouls—like I said, that’s (expletive) unacceptable.”



The <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/philadelphia-76ers">76ers</a> big man immediately defended Maxey, who lost the ball in the play that resulted in the Knicks’ late comeback. Furious with the officiating, Embiid called on the refs to improve. 



“He (Maxey) did his job. That’s on the league. That’s on the NBA. That’s on the freaking referees,” Embiid said. “I hate to put the game on them, but I’m sure the 2-minute report is gonna come out and we’re gonna see what happened, but like I said, that’s unacceptable.”



<h2>Nurse also complained</h2>



Sixers head coach Nick Nurse was also disappointed at the officiating, claiming his call for a timeout was overlooked by the refs despite being close to them on the court.

“The first thing is, obviously, they score, we take a look at getting it in quick, we don’t get it in quick. I call timeout. Referee looked right at me, ignored me, went into Tyrese, I called timeout again, then the melee started,” Nurse said. “I mean, I don’t know. I guess I gotta run onto the floor or do something to make sure and get his attention, but we needed a timeout there to advance it. That would’ve been good, but couldn’t get it.“



The series now moves to the City of Brotherly Love, with Game 3 scheduled for Thursday and Game 4 for Sunday. The 76ers will be looking to bounce back at the Wells Fargo Center to force a Game 5.

NBA admits multiple officiating mistakes in Game 2 of Knicks – Sixers

Joel Embiid was fuming at the referees as the Philadelphia 76ers blew a five-point lead in the final seconds of Game 2 against the <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/new-york-knicks">New York Knicks</a>. According to the big man, the officiating prevented the Sixers from getting the win.



“Everybody on the floor was trying to call a timeout,” Embiid said, via Sixers Wire. “Myself included. Nico (Batum), coach on the sideline, but they didn’t give it to us, but forget about a timeout. There’s a bunch of fouls—like I said, that’s (expletive) unacceptable.”



<a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/philadelphia-76ers">76ers</a> head coach Nick Nurse apparently called for a timeout before the sequence that led to the Knicks’ unbelievable comeback, but his request was not granted. Speaking to the media, Embiid defended Tyrese Maxey, who lost the ball in the play that led to back-to-back threes.



“He did his job. That’s on the league. That’s on the NBA. That’s on the freaking referees,” Embiid said. “I hate to put the game on them, but I’m sure the 2-minute report is gonna come out and we’re gonna see what happened, but like I said, that’s unacceptable. No, that’s not on him. That’s not on any of us. We fought for 47 minutes and whatever 20 seconds and for that to happen up 4? That’s not OK.”

<h2>76ers coach Nick Nurse echoes Embiid’s sentiment</h2>



In his post-match presser, Nurse shared his side of the story, echoing <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/joel-embiid">Embiid</a>‘s sentiment about the officiating. According to the Sixers head coach, the referees heard his request for a timeout but overlooked it.

“The first thing is, obviously, they score, we take a look at getting it in quick, we don’t get it in quick. I call timeout. Referee looked right at me, ignored me, went into Tyrese, I called timeout again, then the melee started, and yeah. I mean, I don’t know. I guess I gotta run onto the floor or do something to make sure and get his attention, but we needed a timeout there to advance it. That would’ve been good, but couldn’t get it,” Nurse said.



“There was no time to talk about it. You can ask him if you want to. See if he saw me calling timeout. I just watched the film just to make sure. I’m clearly calling timeout. I didn’t see if he looked at me in the film, but I can see me clearly calling timeout twice.”



<h2>Embiid warns the Knicks</h2>



The series now heads to Philly with the Knicks leading 2-0, putting the Sixers in a tough spot to make the next round. Even so, Embiid looks extremely confident his team will end up getting the job done. 



“We should be 2-0 so we’re good,” Embiid said. “We’re gonna win this series. We’re gonna win this. We know what we gotta fix. We did a better job today so we’re gonna fix it, but we’re the better team. We’re gonna keep fighting.”

“I consider this boy a great player as much as he is a dirty guy. I hate him for the things that he did. I think he doesn’t have any respect for France and also for all the people who are asking for a French passport and don’t get it,” Weiss said. “And under the pretext that he is a great athlete, he got it. I find it scandalous, I find it embarrassing. I don’t care about his excuses, cause they are his words, and his words mean nothing”.

Recently, a letter sent by Embiid to French President Emmanuel Macron talking about his desire to play for the national team went viral, reigniting this debate about his decision. Of course, Weiss didn’t like that:



“I would take away from him the French nationality and I would ban him from entering France. You will not play in the Olympics. You will come to the airport with Team USA and we will say: You don’t have the right to enter the territory, go to your home. You are Cameronian, you are American, you are not French, go away,” he added.

<a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/joel-embiid">Joel Embiid</a> is back in action for the <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/philadelphia-76ers">Philadelphia 76ers</a> at a crucial moment of the year, with the 2023-24 NBA playoffs just around the corner. The Sixers are currently in Play-In spots, but the big man made it clear they’re not worried about their seed.



“We don’t care where we end up,” Embiid said, via SixersWire. “For me personally, I didn’t have to come back, but I wanna play. I love playing basketball and I wanna be on the floor. It doesn’t matter—obviously, I’d rather not be in the play-in, but if that’s the situation we’re in, that’s where we end up, that doesn’t change the goal which is to go out there and try to win every single game so it doesn’t matter where we end up.”



The Sixers find themselves eighth in the Eastern Conference, with five games to go. Riding on a three-game winning streak, the team has one more loss than the <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/miami-heat">Heat</a>, who are 7th but lost to Philly at home on Thursday.



<h2>What’s next for Embiid, Sixers before the playoffs</h2>



Embiid and company will now embark on a two-game road trip, playing the Memphis Grizzlies Saturday before taking the San Antonio Spurs a day later. After that, the 76ers will close the regular season with a three-game home stand against the Detroit Pistons, Orlando Magic, and Brooklyn Nets.

The expectations around the Sixers were bigger in the offseason, but Embiid missed plenty of time due to injury and now has to make sure the team can finish the season strongly to compete when the most important time of the year comes.

“The key to us getting together—we haven’t played with each other for a long time so that’s another part that we need to figure out quickly,” Embiid added. “I think the key for us is to get healthy. I think we have a pretty good chance. We just need to find a way to get on the same page and I need to find a way to get back close to where I was.”



<h2>Embiid on chemistry with Lowry</h2>



Embiid’s return from injury saw him play for the first time next to Kyle Lowry, who joined the franchise halfway through the season. Unsurprisingly, the duo seem to be getting along on the court.



“It’s easy,” Embiid said. “He’s been connected to Philly for a long time so I’m glad he’s finally here, but I always say this: when you put smart basketball players together, it’s just easy. We already have that connection while we’ve been playing and it’s only gonna get better as I figure myself out and finally get back to—I don’t think I’m gonna get back to where I wanna be, but I’m pretty close to it so we’re only gonna get better.”

That’s why coach Nick Nurse and Sixers fans might be thrilled to know that help is on the way, as Embiid could be back on the floor pretty soon, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic.



<h2>Joel Embiid Could Be Back From His Knee Injury This Week</h2>



“Philadelphia 76ers star Joel Embiid is closing in on a comeback, possibly as soon as Tuesday’s home game against the Oklahoma City Thunder, league sources tell The Athletic,” wrote Charania. “Embiid and the 76ers are still working to finalize his return date, but it is believed to be any day now. The reigning NBA MVP has completed multiple five-on-five scrimmages at practice in recent days, league sources said.”

The Sixers still have a handful of games left in the season, and while avoiding the Play-In Tournament might be off the table at this point, getting their superstar gives them a big chance to secure a postseason berth: 



“The 76ers have seven games left in the regular season, including four this week: Tuesday against the Thunder, Thursday in Miami, Saturday in Memphis and Sunday in San Antonio,” Charania added.

Zucker adds that the Sixers are in a position to clear up north of $75 million in cap space next season, so they could definitely be the strongest player in the PG-13’s sweepstakes:



“The Sixers can clear up to $76.8 million in salary cap space next year, per Spotrac, so the addition of a major star feels inevitable. George can opt out of his contract with the Los Angeles Clippers this offseason and will be one of the top free agents on the board if that happens,” he added.



Needless to say, signing George, who’s 33 years old already, comes with a big risk of injury. Also, making a run at him would most likely put Tyrese Maxey’s contract extension on standby.

“This is what? My second (or) third time back, so it’s a little different now,” Simmons said. “It’s funny to me. I got grown men pissed off and yelling at me. I get to go home after this, get the win. For me, I’m all about winning, so come here, do our job, and get to go home. But it’s fun, I enjoy that. It’s not that deep, it’s sports but it comes with it, so I enjoy it.”



The former first-overall pick claimed that he was struggling mentally in Philadelphia, which is why he wasn’t able to play. Now, multiple injuries later, he’s a non-factor on a losing team.
