The report goes on to explain LeBron’s current situation with the Los Angeles Lakers. He’s expected to opt out of his deal, thus becoming a free agent and a potential target for Daryl Morey:



“LeBron is expected to opt out of his contract with the Lakers, making him an unrestricted free agent. In recent weeks, the 76ers have been linked to the NBA’s all-time leading scorer. The Sixers were a team that originally inquired about LeBron’s availability at the trade deadline in February,” Siegel wrote.

“Talking to my sources, the 76ers’ ownership group — they kinda regret what they did five years ago [in trading Jimmy Butler] and they see the success that he’s had,” wrote Pompey. “And they realize he could be in their eyes, the missing piece, and they’re willing to give him the money he wants.”

Butler is reportedly looking to get a max contract extension. If the Heat aren’t willing to meet his asking price, the Sixers could look to trade for him and fulfill his demands:

<h2>Udonis Haslem Says Butler Will Have To Go Through Him To Leave Miami</h2>



However, Udonis Haslem just doesn’t see that happening. In his latest appearance on Get Up, he jokingly said that the Sixers had a better chance to get LeBron James than to get Butler, as he’s just not going to allow that to happen:



“They (Sixers) got a better chance of getting Bronny (than) they do of getting Jimmy,” Haslem said. “Hell to the naw, you can’t get out of the 305. How you gonna do that? You gotta go through me. I’m standing at the county line.”

It’s hard to think of LeBron moving to the East Coast at this point in his career, and Morey’s reputation might not help the Sixers’ case. He didn’t end on good terms with Chris Paul, one of James’ closest friends.

That’s why the team is expected to make a big move this summer, with Paul George as one of the biggest names to watch.



The 34-year-old’s future looks a bit unclear as he’s reportedly seeking a max contract extension while the <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/nba/paul-george-explains-whats-wrong-with-the-clippers">Los Angeles Clippers continue to fail to go the distance</a> in the postseason.



However, since George is still an extremely valuable asset for the LA organization, the Sixers are reportedly considering alternatives to the 9x <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/nba">NBA</a> All-Star. According to Kevin O’Connor of The Ringer, one of those names is Brandon Ingram:



“Aside from the pipe dream that Kevin Durant or Jimmy Butler would ask to be dealt directly to Philly, sources familiar with the Sixers’ thinking say that Brandon Ingram is the primary fallback plan.”

Ingram’s future with the New Orleans Pelicans also looks up in the air as his name is being the subject of multiple trade rumors, with the 26-year-old also being linked with the Chicago Bulls. Either way, what seems clear is that the Sixers are not satisfied and will be looking to improve for the 2024-25 season.

<h2>Sixers looking for the right star next to Embiid to leave behind playoff struggles</h2>



The 76ers have constantly been on the conversation when discussing the title contenders in the last few seasons, as they always seemed to have, on paper, everything to make a deep playoff run. 



However, the team left a lot to be desired year after year, as it hasn’t made the Conference Finals since 2001, when it lost to the Los Angeles Lakers in the NBA Finals. 



After three years of consecutive eliminations in the Conference Semifinals, the Sixers’ title hopes ended sooner this time, losing to the New York Knicks in the First Round.



With Ben Simmons failing to step up in 2021, the Sixers went all in for James Harden in 2022 hoping to help Embiid, but it didn’t work. Now the franchise has to look for another star to surround Joel, hoping to get it right this time.

According to <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/philadelphia-76ers" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Philadelphia 76ers</a> insider Keith Pompey, GM Daryl Morey has put James near the top of his shopping list for the offseason in case they don’t land Paul George, their main target.

<h2>The Sixers Will Make A Move</h2>



Per the report, Daryl Morey is going to add at least another star player to his roster, as they have more than enough assets to pull off a big trade if they strikeout in free agency:



“If not in free agency, the Sixers believe they can use their draft assets and available cap space to acquire a difference-maker via a trade. That has led to Miami Heat forward Jimmy Butler, Chicago Bulls guard Zach LaVine, and New Orleans Pelicans forward Brandon Ingram being among trade interests,” added Pompey.

As for LeBron, it would make sense for him to get back to an easier conference, as he has only made it to the NBA Finals once in the west. However, it’s hard to envision him moving to the East Coast at this point in his career.
