Brooklyn Nets and Golden State Warriorswill meet for the very first game of the regular season, meaning that Kevin Durant’s long-awaited debut with his new team will come against his former teammates.
The Warriors were used to dominating with Kevin Durant on the court but now, they’ll have to find the way to counter the guy that helped them win back-to-back NBA Championships just a couple of years ago.
Steve Kerr Says It Was His Turn To Coach Vs An Overpowered Team
That’s why, when asked about how it will be like to go against such an overpowered team with Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant, coach Steve Kerr simply joked by saying that he just had it coming after having a superteam of his own for most of his coaching career:
“I probably deserve this given that I was coaching a team like that for five years. So it’s probably about time I have to face this where you’ve got all these weapons, all these players who can hurt you. Obviously Kevin and Kyrie, but so many of their support players are capable of having huge nights,” the coach said, as quoted by Kristian Winfield of New York News Daily.
The Golden State Warriors had four All-Star players on their starting five (Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, Draymond Green, and Kevin Durant)at one point, adding another former All-Star in DeMarcus Cousins as well.
Now, the Warriors are far from the dominant and stacked team they were just two years ago, but they still have plenty of talent to try and match up vs. the Brooklyn Nets or any other team that stands in their way.
