When it comes to naming two strong contenders to at least make the upcoming NFL playoffs, the Washington Commanders and the Cincinnati Bengals are tough to ignore. Led by Jayden Daniels, the Commanders aim to build on last season’s success, while Joe Burrow and the Bengals look to assert themselves as true contenders in the AFC North.

Preparation for a new challenge is one of the key factors in ensuring a team is ready to perform at its best — and both Dan Quinn and Zac Taylor are head coaches known for their meticulous attention to detail.

In what’s expected to be a packed Northwest Stadium full of local fans, both teams will face off tonight in their second preseason game, making final adjustments ahead of the fast-approaching regular season.

Will Jayden Daniels see action tonight?

Jayden Daniels begins a new chapter in his second season as the Commanders’ starting quarterback. Although he didn’t see the field in Washington’s preseason opener — a loss to the Patriots — all signs point to him taking a few snaps tonight alongside his teammates.

Jayden Daniels #5 of the Washington Commanders talks with Joe Burrow #9 of the Cincinnati Bengals after the game at Paycor Stadium on September 23, 2024 in Cincinnati, Ohio.

That was confirmed by head coach Dan Quinn himself during a recent press conference this past Saturday, where he hinted at Daniels getting some playing time.

“I would say it’s a little bit customized, but we’d like to see a few series, and we’re excited to see the guys,” the head coach said. “They’re excited to get performing, too, so we customized it a little bit.”

Burrow set to take the field in Washington

Joe Burrow kicked off this new campaign from the very start, taking the field in the preseason opener against the Eagles and leaving a positive impression. “It’s just good to play again,” he said following the game. “The more reps you get, the better you’re going to be. We got 15 reps (vs. the Eagles), so we’re 15 reps better.”

According to bengals.com, all signs point to head coach Zac Taylor giving his starting QB more reps in the game against the Commanders. The more snaps the former LSU star gets, the greater the confidence he’ll carry into Week 1.

“After playing the entire first quarter of last Thursday’s preseason opener at Philadelphia, the Bengals’ first-team offense will once again see action on Monday night, according to head coach Zac Taylor.
