Trevor Lawrence knows that last NFL season’s performance didn’t meet expectations for his team, and he’s already focused on what’s ahead. The talented Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback has his sights set on making a big statement in 2025 and leaving the past behind.

As the first signs of movement emerge under Liam Coen’s leadership, many within the franchise are optimistic about the upcoming season — thanks to the influx of new talent on the roster and the arrival of the new head coach.

In recent comments to the media published on the team’s website, Lawrence expressed his excitement about being part of this new chapter — one focused on putting the past behind and setting sights firmly on Week 1.

“I really like the people we have here now,” Lawrence said, via the team’s website. “I love the system. I love the staff, the players that we brought in along with the guys that were already here. I feel very confident in where we’re going and the trajectory we’re heading.

You can’t change the past. I would love to have had a little more success up until this point, but this is where we’re at, and I love where we’re at. I have a lot of confidence in it, and we just have to keep putting the work in out here every day to prepare ourselves for the fall.”

Lawrence’s confidence in Hunter

The Jacksonville Jaguars were one of the teams that truly capitalized on the most recent draft, landing Travis Hunter with the No. 2 overall pick. Now, anticipation is building around what the Lawrence-Hunter duo could bring to the field — a pairing that even the quarterback himself is excited about.

“He has a lot of juice,” Lawrence said on his new teammate. “He can run all day, a lot of energy. I love it. He’s always dapping guys up and bringing juice every day. He has a high motor. He’s like a kid. He runs around all day and doesn’t get tired. You can’t have enough of that.

“As far as just talent, it kind of speaks for itself: Ball skills, run after the catch. He’s very explosive. I didn’t realize how explosive he was in and out of cuts. He’s impressive to watch and we’ve gotten to connect a couple times. It’s only going to keep getting better and better. We’ve only worked together for a couple days now, so we have some time to really dial in on the details when it comes to building relationship with receivers.”

2025 season opener for the Jaguars

In just a few months, a new NFL season will kick off, and the Jacksonville Jaguars already know who they’ll be facing in Week 1. On Sunday, September 7, Liam Coen’s squad will host the Carolina Panthers at home in what will mark the season opener for both teams.
