There’s no doubt that both Travis Kelce and his brother Jason have enjoyed highly successful NFL careers. Now, with the Chiefs tight end nearing the twilight of his own journey and the former Super Bowl–winning Eagles center already retired, their relationship today goes far beyond the football field.

As the hosts and creators of the podcast New Heights, the Kelce brothers have strengthened their bond even further, especially since the older of the two officially brought his professional football career to an end.

During a recent appearance at the American Century Celebrity Golf Championship Tournament, Jason spoke to the media about how his relationship with the Kansas City star has become more natural and relaxed since they entered this new chapter of their lives.

“Travis and I have been close for a long time, and now with the podcast, we talk to each other more than we ever have,” Jason said.

“We loved each other growing up, we still love each other. Now, it’s more like peer to peer, when obviously growing up as the older brother, it was a little bit different. Now, he’s just my best friend on the planet, and we get to talk once a week, and our families are close, and he’s a great uncle.

The popularity of their podcast

When many professional athletes decide to call it a career, they often explore different paths to fill their time. The Kelce brothers chose to launch a podcast — one that quickly gained an extraordinary level of popularity.

While Jason understands that their lives have lost a certain level of privacy due to being seen as NFL stars, he still believes that some moments are best kept private and away from the spotlight.

“I think we try to share the right amount on the internet, with the viral moments or whatnot, but you also try to keep some of the stuff private,” Jason said. “We’re fortunate that people like the stuff and are appreciative of it. We just try to shed a light on we’re a family that loves each other, we love to be around each other, and it’s good to sit down and talk once a week.”

The future of Travis in the league

Following the Chiefs’ latest Super Bowl loss — ironically to the Eagles — there was plenty of speculation surrounding Travis Kelce’s future with Kansas City. Despite retirement rumors, the star tight end ultimately decided to return for at least one more NFL season, without ruling out the possibility of continuing his professional career beyond this year.
