Aaron Rodgers is putting in significant effort to recover from his Achilles injury and make a swift return to the field. Nevertheless, the quarterback has recently shared an update on the situation that is causing worry for the New York Jets.
The 2023 NFL season has been a roller coaster for the Jets. During the summer, the AFC East team agreed terms with the Green Bay Packers to acquire Aaron Rodgers in order to finally have an experienced quarterback to lead their offense.
Unfortunately, Rodgers’ tenure with the Jets got off to a rocky start. He only managed to play three snaps before sustaining a season-ending injury, which was certainly not what his team had anticipated.
Aaron Rodgers’ injury: The quarterback give concerning update about his torn Achilles
New York Jets fans had never anticipated that Aaron Rodgers wouldn’t even record a touchdown for their team in his first season. When the quarterback joined, he had promised a memorable year for the team, but it unfolded in an unexpected manner.
During his initial drive with his new team, Rodgers endured an Achilles injury that appeared to spell the end of his 2023 season. Following extensive evaluations, it was determined that he might make a return for the playoffs, provided the Jets progressed, and he’s putting in tremendous effort to fulfill that goal.
Recently, Rodgers was spotted throwing the football before a Jets game, which ignited hope among the team’s fans. However, he has since shared a concerning update on the matter that has left everyone worried.
“It has been a tough week of rehab with some smaller gains and it’s been more of a grind the last week or so,” Rodgers said on an appearance on the Pat McAfee show. “I’m not walking without a limp yet.
“I don’t quite have the strength in my calf to be able to walk without a limp yet. I am competitive, I want to be walking without a limp, so there is some frustration there.“
Does Aaron Rodgers still uses crutches?
About him not using crutches recently, Rodgers also opened up on this matter. It all started as a joke, but then he realized that he no longer needed them. Nevertheless, he knows that he must be very cautious with every step taken.
“I was joking with rehab folks that when I was flying back for the game on the 15th, I assumed I had left my crutches in the car and when I got to the airport there were no crutches in the car.
“So I haven’t been on crutches since that day. I had put them in my house, hidden in the living room behind the door. When I left the house, I assumed that I had left them in the car from the day before at rehab.”
