A couple of years ago when the National Football League invited Tom Brady to attend Super Bowl LIV as a member of the all-time team, he vowed that he wouldn’t be wearing a blazer for next year’s biggest game. And he delivered.
Against all odds, Brady silenced his critics once again by leading the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to the Super Bowl, beating the reigning champions Kansas City Chiefs to keep cementing his legacy as one of the greatest to ever do it.
And, notably, his biggest trait as a legendary quarterback is the fact that, regardless of how many accolades and awards he’s won, he’s still far from satisfied. That competitive mindset and drive make the difference.
Tom Brady Is Already Preparing For Super Bowl LVI
As a matter of fact, Brady is so competitive that the very first thing he did the morning after winning the Super Bowl was reaching out to Bucs’ assistant Clyde Christensen to talk about how they could get better next season.
“He said, ‘Hey, I didn’t see you after the game. I just wanted to tell you thanks and what a great journey and how much I appreciated everything you did,’” Christensen said. “The second thing he said: ‘I was just sitting here thinking, and I think we can really be better next year. I think we’re going to be a better team.’ He was already excited about the next year. It’s amazing. That’s how his mind works,” he told the Tampa Bay Times.
“He’s thinking about it the next morning. He’s barely been in a couple hours, and he’s thinking about it the next morning. The thing that happens is, teams get distracted. Everyone is trying to make a little more money. Everyone has something going. Some have got a little book deal. They’ve got radio shows going. That doesn’t happen to the Bradys or the Mannings of the world. They don’t get distracted. They don’t get off track,” the assistant concluded.
That’s what makes the greats stand out from the rest of the pack. That’s why you can never count someone like Tom Brady out, regardless of his age, who he plays with, or how he fared in the regular season.
