Despite being just 18 years old, BYU star recruit AJ Dybantsa is fully aware of his platform and the huge impact he can have on the next generation, and that’s something he doesn’t take lightly.
With that in mind, the young forward and projected No. 1 pick made sure to honor his Jamaican roots, traveling to the Caribbean nation to give back to his mother’s birthplace.
Dybantsa spent a couple of days mentoring young basketball players and partnered with the Jamaica Basketball Association and the Bob Marley Foundation to inspire the youth.

“This isn’t my first time here,” Dybantsa said in Kingston. “I love coming back. I’ll always be back. Just seeing those smiles—that’s something I’ll never forget.”

Dybantsa handed out basketball gear for high school players, and met with the Under-17 national team on Saturday, and he will reportedly host another event before the start of next season.
He hasn’t played a single minute of college basketball yet, and it will be a while before we see him in the NBA, but you can be sure that he already has a big fan base rooting for him.
