Dan Hurley explains what makes his coaching at UConn unlike all other basketball programs

Uconn coach Dan Hurley might not be very impressed with the NBA, and he has set his sights somewhere else.

For most of their history, the UConn Huskies have been one of the biggest powerhouses in college basketball. Notably, Coach Dan Hurley has had plenty to do with that.

While his demeanor has often rubbed people the wrong way, no one can deny his impact on the program. That’s why even the Los Angeles Lakers tried to steal him away.

However, it seems like he’s not that impressed by the NBA. In a recent interview with CBS Sports, the controversial coach revealed that he tries to emulate European programs instead.

Dan Hurley claims he wants to emulate European basketball models

“Most colleges are stealing ball screen, offensive ideas from the NBA. Whereas, for us it was taking off-ball movement, less dribbling, more passing, more cutting, more screening that would represent more of a European professional model, Hurley said.

Unfortunately, that hasn’t necessarily worked out well for them this year. They’re not a strong candidate to get the job done in the NCAA Tournament after a subpar season.

Then again, they call it March Madness for a reason, and if history has taught us something, it is to never count out Dan Hurley and his UConn Huskies, regardless of the situation.
