Meanwhile, <strong>Jon Scheyer</strong> and the <strong><a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/duke" rel="nofollow">Duke Blue Devils</a></strong> fell just short of the National Championship Game after losing to Houston in the Final Four. Still, Scheyer has already secured his own major payday and is expected to earn a fortune in the coming years, as he continues leading Duke on deep March runs.</p>



<p><strong>Golden cut down the nets in March Madness</strong>, after the Gators prevailed over the Cougars by a score of 65-63 in <strong>college basketball’s</strong> Championship Game. His impressive run led to a well-deserved new deal with the University of Florida.</p>



<p>The Gators and Golden put pen to paper on a top-of-the-market six-year deal <strong>worth up to $40.5M, at an average annual winning of $6.75M for Golden</strong>, as the school announced on May 6. Golden will remain at the helm in Gainesville through the 2031 <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/ncaa">NCAA</a> season.</p>



<p><em>“<strong>Todd has done an incredible job getting Florida men’s basketball back where it belongs</strong>,” </em>Athletic Director Scott Stricklin stated<em>. “We believed in his vision, his competitive nature and his modern approach to the game back in 2022, and he has validated that belief in a relatively short time and <strong>helped create memories of a lifetime </strong>for another generation of Gator fans.”</em></p>

<p>While Golden’s accomplishments in Gainesville justify every penny in his new deal, as he led the program to its third national title during his third year on the job, Scheyer has done a great job in Durham, but has yet to win the Natty as the Blue Devils’ head coach.</p>

<h2>Jon Scheyer’s contract</h2>



<p><strong>Scheyer has two national championships on his résumé</strong>—one as a player in 2010 and another as an assistant coach under Mike Krzyzewski in 2015. Since taking over as head coach in 2022, Scheyer and Duke have steadily improved their NCAA Tournament performances, though a championship has yet to arrive.</p>



<p>Regardless, the school in Durham has the utmost confidence in Scheyer, <strong>and his lucrative contract reflects that</strong>. Scheyer signed a six-year extension in October 2023, which locks him as head coach for Duke through the 2028-29 season.</p>



<p>Though exact details haven’t become public, reports from College Sports Network indicate <strong>Scheyer earns between $7 and $8 millions every year</strong>. This deal also includes performance-based incentives, depending on Duke’s progression in the ACC and NCAA tournaments.</p>

<p>The Wildcats were the <strong>No. 12 team</strong> in the nation after getting a 10-8 record in the conference. Looking back, it was quite a positive first season to start the Mark Pope era.</p>

<p>“<em>It was the greatest experience of my basketball coaching career, by far,” </em>he said. “<em><strong>Last year, I was blessed to coach in the Big 12. That was an incredible league. <p>He believes the former Duke Blue Devils star will be the<strong> sixth-overall pick</strong>, and given the way he shoots the ball, it would certainly be more than justified to take him that high.</p>

<p>Needless to say, Malauch won’t take <strong>Joel Embiid’s spot,</strong> but given the Cameroonian big man’s history of injuries, he could certainly make his way to the court early and often.</p>

<p>Hurley drew mockery and criticism for demanding <strong>to be ranked No. 1</strong>. Of course, he had earned his stripes as a back-to-back national champion, but he didn’t have the best team anymore.</p>

<p>He ended the season with a<strong> 14-6 record in the Big East Conference</strong>, and they never looked like a legitimate contender. Now, with so many enemies, Hurley will have to put in a lot of work to turn the narrative around him again. </p>

<p>Sacramento State isn’t known for being much of a <a href="http://bolavip.com/en/college-basketball" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">college basketball</a> powerhouse. Then again, with <strong>Shaquille O’Neal </strong>taking the reins of the program as their GM, that’s about to change.</p>



<p>The Hornets just added former Arizona State star F Brandon Gardner and Shaqir O’Neal, one of Shaq’s sons. Now, they will also land former <strong>UCF four-star recruit Mikey Williams.</strong></p>



<p>Williams averaged just 5.1 points and 1.9 rebounds per game in 14.0 minutes a night in his freshman season. That’s why he’s so excited to get a fair shot at playing time under new coach<strong> Mike Bibby.</strong></p>

So I feel like he already kept it 100 ain’t no politics going on.”</em></p>

<p>They’ve always had nothing but the top recruits in the nation, and this year won’t be the exception to the rule, with the Boozer twins replacing the <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/nba" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">NBA</a>-bound <strong>Cooper Flagg.</strong></p>



<p>That’s why it’s not much of a surprise to hear that they’re keeping tabs on <strong>Braydon Hawthorne,</strong> a highly-coveted 6-foot-9 phenom from the recruit class of 2025.</p>

<p>Hawthorne has been a quick riser in recent months, going from No. 105 in some recruiting services all the way to the No. 35 spot in On3, s<strong>o he’s now the third-highest undecided player in his class.</strong></p>

They’re perhaps the two biggest powerhouses in women’s <a href="http://bolavip.com/en/college-basketball" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">college basketball</a> right now.</p>



<p>That’s why coach<strong> Geno Auriemma </strong>made the most of the chance to take a subtle jab at A’Ja Wilson, who got a statue after leading the Gamecocks to a title. That, per UConn standards, isn’t enough.</p>



<p><strong><em>“Most other places, if you win one national championship, they build a statue to you outside the building. Here, they won’t even let you get to the front of the bus,” </em></strong>Auriemma said at the championship parade while counting how many championships each of the current and former players there had. </p>

<p>With that in mind, Gamecocks coach Dawn Staley made sure to have her former player’s back. While she didn’t mention Auriemma, she clearly<strong> clapped back at his remarks:</strong></p>

<p>Now, with the roster taking shape and some old faces in new places, Max Escarpio of Athlon Sports reports that they’re about to lose a former Calipari commit to Ole Miss.</p>

<p>“<strong><em>On Sunday, Travis Perry, a former blue-chip recruit who committed to Kentucky while John Calipari was the head coach, announced his decision to transfer to Ole Miss,” </em></strong>wrote Escarpio.</p>

<p>Perry committed to play for the Wildcats in 2023. He was a former four-star recruit and the No. 78 player in his class, and he fielded offers from <strong>Michigan, Purdue, Indiana, Cincinnati, Missouri, and Ole Miss.</strong></p>

<p>However, while making up for such a big loss will be easier said than done, Notre Dame coach <strong>Niele Ivey </strong>still has high hopes for her program in the upcoming campaign.</p>

<p>MiLaysia Fulwiley’s decision to enter the transfer portal was a huge blow. Now, after two years with Coach Staley, she’s transferred to LSU. That’s why Tigers beat writer Tyler Harden believes that <strong>Kim Mulkey </strong>was one of the biggest winners of the transfer portal.</p>

<p>Fulwiley averaged <strong>11.7 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 2.2 assists</strong> per game as a freshman to help her program win the national championship with an undefeated season.</p>

<p>For years, people called for college athletes to <strong>get financially compensated for their efforts</strong>. Everybody knew they got paid to commit to some programs, but it wasn’t allowed.</p>



<p>Now, with <strong>the NIL era,</strong> athletes are finally getting what they always deserved. Even so, some claim that it’s not a good thing, as if the players weren’t the ones putting their bodies on the line.</p>



<p>However, that’s not the case with ESPN analyst and former <strong>Duke legend Jay Bilas</strong>, who took to social media to explain why the NIL era is actually good for the <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/college-basketball" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">college basketball </a>landscape.</p>



<h2>Jay Bilas is a fan of NIL</h2>



<p>“<strong><em>NIL is, I think, beneficial for everybody,”</em></strong> Bilas said. <em>“What it does is allow smaller schools access to better talent than they would have had otherwise. Ten years ago, no player being recruited by the University of Kansas, Wichita State would not have a shot at any of those guys. Now, Wichita State might be able to offer Kansas’ fourth best recruit enough money to be Wichita State’s best recruit. They may be able to get a player like that. That’s possible now. It was not possible before.”</em></p>

<p>Bilas added that talent is now more spread out than it’s ever been, and that’s ultimately <strong>a positive thing for the product</strong>, the sport, and most definitely for the players.</p>

<p>At the end of the day, powerhouses <strong>will have to adapt or perish.</strong> The field is leveled now, and the days of having a huge edge over other smaller programs are long gone.</p>

<p>If there’s someone who knows a thing or two about basketball, that’s most definitely<strong> Shaquille O’Neal.</strong> Moreover, he certainly knows how to run a business, and he doesn’t do things half-heartedly.</p>



<p>O’Neal is a man of many talents and occupations. But even though he doesn’t have a lot of free time, he still decided to embark on a new mission to be the general manager for the <strong>Sacramento State Hornets.</strong></p>



<p>The 53-year-old and<strong> four-time <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/nba" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">NBA </a>champion</strong> will look to bring a struggling program to life, and he believes that it will be crucial to build a winning culture within the locker room.</p>



<h2>Shaquille O’Neal wants to win </h2>



<p>“<strong><em>I know what it takes to build a winning culture,”</em></strong> the Hall of Famer said. <em>“This is about more than the banners and trophies, but preparing those student-athletes for life on and off the court.”</em></p>

<p>Notably, the legendary big man volunteered to be the GM, so it’s not about money. He will focus on <strong>recruiting players, marketing, and player development on and off the court. </strong></p>
