Bryce Harper has a Phillies teammate who could shock the market with a $100m deal

Another player of the Philadelphia Phillies who has played alongside Bryce Harper could be a prime candidate to receive a major contract — and any MLB team could be the one to offer it.

Bryce Harper has high-caliber teammates, and one of them — a player who’s been with the Philadelphia Phillies since 2022 — may be the perfect candidate to land a lucrative contract worth at least $100 million over four years, according to a recent report.

“A designated hitter who’s going to be 33 next Opening Day getting a nine-figure deal? Schwarber is an outlier in so many other respects, so why not here, too? He is terminally productive. He is an exceptional clubhouse leader. Nobody would blink at giving him $25 million a year, and a four-year ask — particularly in a class weak on high-end bats — is eminently reasonable,” Jeff Passan wrote about Schwarber.

It’s no secret that Schwarber and Harper have become vital to the Phillies’ success. But with Schwarber’s contract set to expire at the end of this season, he’ll hit free agency — and if Philadelphia doesn’t make a competitive offer, another team could easily swoop in.

How much has Schwarber earned with the Phillies?

Schwarber has been with the Phillies since 2022, earning a total of $59 million so far, not including the $20 million still owed for the 2025 MLB season. That would bring his total earnings with the club to $79 million, the full value of his four-year deal.

Of course, Schwarber is far behind Bryce Harper’s massive $330 million contract. Among Phillies players, Schwarber ranks seventh in total contract value — just ahead of Taijuan Walker and just behind Nick Castellanos, who signed for $100 million.

Schwarber’s strong standing

As a designated hitter, Schwarber has continued to deliver meaningful production for the Phillies — a key reason why other MLB teams in need of power bats may come calling. So far in 2025, he has 12 home runs, 26 runs scored, and 35 hits with a .263 batting average.
