Bryce Harper is injured again. First it was his elbow, after being hit by a pitch that left him in visible pain. He returned with a home run and it seemed like things were back on track—but now there’s another setback. Harper is dealing with inflammation in his wrist and has been placed on the injured list.

June has been a rough month for Harper. He’s hitting just .091 with two runs, one hit, and one home run—all of which came during the Phillies’ recent disastrous series against the Blue Jays.

There’s no question Harper’s hot streak with the Phillies has cooled off. But the silver lining is that the stint on the IL is expected to be brief. If all goes well, he could return later this month for the final home series in Philadelphia.

How long is Harper expected to be out?

According to Todd Zolecki, Harper has been placed on the 10-day injured list to allow his wrist to fully heal. The short duration suggests that the injury may not be too serious.

If he’s able to return by June 18, Harper would be back in time for a high-stakes series against the Mets—one that would reunite him with former teammate Juan Soto. That three-game stretch could carry big implications as two of the NL East’s top teams face off.

June: A month of injuries for Harper

Fox Sports’ injury archive reports that June has historically been Harper’s worst month for injuries, with seven different issues since 2021:

  • 6/18/22 – Blister

  • 6/28/24 – Hamstring

According to the same report, Harper has only landed on the IL twice due to wrist issues. The first time was on May 3, 2021—a month where he suffered three different injuries: wrist, shoulder, and forearm.
