San Diego Padres are getting ready to make a big leap and dethrone Los Angeles Dodgers in the division and the National League. The Californians are having a tremendous offseason and they’re not planning to stop anytime soon.

Last season they had a very good team that couldn’t do anything against the Dodgers in the National League Divisional Series. They’re looking for revenge this upcoming campaign and the moves they’re making only make their fans dream about the things this team could achieve.

The Padres recently struck a deal with Tampa Bay Rays to get Cy Young award winner Blake Snell to San Diego in exchange for picks. But, that’s not it for the Padres, as they have identified another piece to bolster their starting rotation.

San Diego Padres reportedly working on a trade for Yu Darvish

Padres reporter for The Athletic Dennis Lin explained that the team isn’t done with Snell. They are looking for more and Chicago Cubs' starting pitcher Yu Darvish is now their priority target for this offseason.

AJ Keller, general manager of the Padres, wants to land Darvish, whom he knows since his days in Texas when the Japanese pitcher landed in the Rangers to start his MLB career. In order to make this trade a reality, plenty of assets would be sent to Chicago in exchange for the Cy Young candidate.

Pairing Blake Snell and Yu Darvish would be something huge for the Padres and would give them the chance to rule the National League for several years to come. Los Angeles Dodgers have been linked with great players, too, but this would be a huge move for the Padres, too.

This trade isn’t done yet but the Padres could have one of the best rotations in the Majors with Darvish and Snell. That duo would do a lot of damage in San Diego and the Padres fans would give anything to see those two monsters dominating hitters every night.
