While most eyes where on Shohei Ohtani and Yoshinobu Yamamoto, it was another Los Angeles Dodgers player who caught the eye of NBA superstar, LeBron James. It happened during the Game 7 against the Toronto Blue Jays.
The play was the decisive one that secured the Dodgers their second-consecutive World Series title. Blue Jays’ Alejandro Kirk batted a ground ball and that led to shortstop Mookie Betts fielding the ball. After running to make the out on second base (which was the second out of the inning), he then launched a missile to first to secure a double play and the game.
This is now Betts fourth ring and, as the video of the play garnered more than 13 million views, it also attracted LeBron James, who posted an Instagram story with Betts’ face photoshopped into a Michael Jordan famous meme wearing his rings.
That play saved Betts during the World Series
Betts will be remembered as the guy who made the play to secure the championship in one of the best World Series the MLB has ever seen. But, it will also make people forget how bad Metts’ performance was compared to his usual standards.

LeBron’s reaction to Mookie Betts’ fourth title.
In the first six games, Betts was 4-for-26 (.154) with two RBIs, which is below what you expect from him. Still, those two runs batted in came on a vital single in Game 6. Those runs helped force an epic Game 7 when the Dodgers were facing defeat. During Game 7, however, Mookie had three at bats with two base on balls and had one run.

Mookie Betts is now making history
This is Betts’ fourth ring, which makes him the only active player with four World Series titles. He also became just the 18th player to do so in the Divisional Era, which dates back to 1969.
If there was doubts of Betts going into the Hall of Fame, those doubts were duly erased. He was shaky at bat during this Fall Classic. Still, his defense at shortstop was so good, he was a Gold Glove finalists in his first full season at that specific position.
