Team USA brings just as much offensive power as the Dominican Republic and hopes to take full advantage in the semifinals with a batting order once again led by Bobby Witt Jr.. He enters the game with a .294 batting average and has looked sharp so far while covering shortstop.
Bryce Harper and Aaron Judge, the final two hitters among the first three in the order, are expected to contribute more. Harper in particular needs a bounce back performance. He enters the matchup against the Dominicans with a poor .150 average and was struck out twice against Canada.
Judge has not struggled as much in the 2026 World Baseball Classic. So far he has given Team USA five runs, five hits and five RBIs in 19 at-bats. He has been struck out only twice and enters the semifinals with a .263 average and a 1.072 OPS.
Will Smith over Cal Raleigh
Team USA places Will Smith at catcher in the lineup, hoping his .333 batting average can add something different to the offensive strategy. Cal Raleigh did not contribute in the game against Canada and has struggled at the plate during the tournament.
