Klay Thompson has suffered a season-ending Achilles tear just one month away from the beginning of the 2020/21 NBAseason. Klay missed the entire 2019/20 NBA season after tearing the ACL in his left knee during Game 6 of the 2019 NBA Finals.

Thompson didn’t play a single game, leaving the Golden StateWarriors hurt after being the rulers of the NBA for the past five seasons. He was ready to get a revenge season the next one and now his plans have been damaged.

He will miss the entire 2020/21 season, too, and the Warriors need to find a solution for this big, unfortunate situation. When he returns to the court, Klay will have two years without playing a game in the NBA. In the meantime, the Warriors need to find a replacement for the sharpshooter.

3 best replacements for Klay Thompson in Golden State

The Warriors are entering a season full of challenges and having the best players to reclaim their throne is a must for them. Now that they know that Klay won’t be participating this year, the Dubs need to find alternatives to the shooting guard. Here are the three best replacements for Klay Thompson on the Warriors.

Joe Harris

Joe Harris has been a very valuable piece for the Brooklyn Nets since 2017 and he hasn’t disappointed a bit. Harris was expected to hit free agency this offseason but recent reports suggest he will re-sign with the Nets.

The Warriors could get him via free agency or they could get the player and absorb it into their trade exception. Reports suggest Harris would be getting a salary between $16-$20 million if he re-signs with the Nets or any other team. Last season he recorded 14.5 points, 4.3 rebounds and 2.1 assists in 69 games with Brooklyn.

Wesley Matthews

Wesley Matthews declined his player option with the Milwaukee Bucks and became an unrestricted free agent. Several teams around the league were looking to make a move for the swingman and now the Warriors could join his sweepstakes.

Matthews is a solid 3-and-D that could be valuable for the Warriors. Of course, not at the same level as Klay but he could still make good contributions to the team. He averaged 7.4 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 1.4 assists per game last season. Wesley rejected a $2.7 million salary this season and now he could earn more while playing for a contender.

Avery Bradley

Bradley, curiously, has been linked with the Warriors in prior days. Klay’s injury may accelerate things for both parties, as the Warriors are looking to add another guard to join forces with Steph Curry on the backcourt.

Bradley is not the deadliest scorer in NBA history, but he puts some decent numbers on the court. His value, however, has never been his offensive skills. Bradley has made several All-Defensive NBA teams during his career and that is the contribution he could bring to Golden State. Last season, he averaged 8.6 points on 44.4% shooting from the field with 2.3 rebounds and 1.3 assists in 24.4 minutes per game.
