Kyrie Irving has been in everybodyās mouths in recent days given his unwillingness to play with the Brooklyn Nets due to undisclosed reasons. The player has been absent in the last four games of the Nets and nobody knows when he will return to the floor.
His attitude has raised a lot of eyebrows around the league and as the hours go by, Kyrieās situation gets worse with the Nets. The team is reportedly growing unhappy with Irvingās recent behavior, especially after a video of him partying with his sister and father surfaced on social media.
Everybody around the NBA is talking about Kyrie and his attitude and one analyst took a big shot at the player for his behavior and how heās letting everybody down not playing with the Nets for āpersonal reasonsā that arenāt that clear.
Stephen A. Smith says Kyrie Irving violated Kevin Durantās trust with his attitude
ESPNās Stephen A. Smith recently reacted to Kyrieās antics off the field, sending a huge message to the player, stating that he violated Kevin Durantās trust with his behavior. Kyrie and Durant teamed up in Brooklyn in the summer of 2019 and this season was expected to be the one where they take the team to compete in the East.
ā18 months after signing a 4-year, $140 million deal, Kyrie has only played 27 games. The Nets had reservations about giving him that deal. Weāre seeing exactly why now.ā
āThere was the injury. A preseason media boycott. Burning sage at the TD Garden. An absence for personal reasons, and now heās completely off the grid. When the NBAās investigating if he was going maskless for a family party! That would violate league Covid protocols, Yāall.ā
āBut Kyrie has already violated the trust Kevin Durant put in him. This is KDās franchise. KD wouldnāt have signed with the Nets if he didnāt want to play with Kyrie Irving. We donāt know where Kyrie is. But we know where Kevin Durant is ā right under the damn bus.ā
Stephen A. Smiths says Kyrie Irving should retire
Moreover, Stephen A. went further and claimed that Kyrie isnāt worth all this drama and he should call it a career before things get worse for everybody around him.
āNo, heās not, heās not worth it at allā¦I think Kyrie Irving should retire; I think he should announce his retirement today. Clearly, you donāt want to play basketball bad enough.ā
Nobody is happy with Kyrie right now and every day the unhappiness will grow. This situation is still developing and we donāt know how itās going to end. The Nets need to address this situation before it gets (more) out of control.
