Kevin Durant made his debut with the Brooklyn Nets on Sunday afternoon. Durantula signed with the team last year but it wasn’t until yesterday that he finally laced up to play his first game with the franchise after missing the entire 2019/20 NBA season due to a torn ACL.
Durant was pretty decent for a guy that hadn’t played in over 12 months. The Nets took on the Washington Wizards and beat them with a final result of 119-114. We couldn’t see a duel between Durantula and Russell Westbrook but we did see KD and Kyrie Irving playing together for the first time.
It was a good thing to see for Brooklyn and they’re hoping to have a good season after watching KD and Kyrie play together. KD stole the spotlight; he returned to an NBA court and everybody wanted to show their appreciation for Durantula, including LeBron James, his biggest rival in the league.
LeBron James welcomes back Kevin Durant with Instagram post
LeBron James, who was casually watching a lot of sports at home, caught the Brooklyn Nets game and sent a message to KD in his return to the league. Durant finished the game with 15 points, three rebounds, three assists, and two blocks in 24 minutes for Brooklyn.
“Happy to see you where you belong. On the court G!” LeBron wrote for KD on an Instagram story.
James and Durant have been great rivals on the court and very good friends off it. They have starred in big duels in prior seasons, especially in the Finals. Durant has a favorable record against the King after winning two titles in front of the King, while Bron won their first duel in 2012 while he was with the Miami Heat.
Curiously, the Brooklyn Nets and Los Angeles Lakers are the big favorites to make the Finals this season, with everything that means for the teams and their stars. KD and Bron could have another opportunity to face each other and define who is the best player in the NBA.
