Roster moves within the San Francisco 49ers have become more frequent as the weeks go by. As the 2025 NFL season approaches, Brock Purdy loses a weapon who is heading to another NFC West team—specifically, the Seattle Seahawks, now led by Sam Darnold.

Eric Saubert, who played 17 games last season the Kyle Shanahan’s team, has decided to make a change during this year’s free agency. He will now join the Seahawks, where he’ll compete for a spot alongside Cooper Kupp.

The news was reported by NFL insider Adam Schefter, who took to his official X (formerly Twitter) account to announce the tight end’s arrival to Mike Macdonald’s team.

Saubert’s numbers with San Francisco

Saubert already boasts an extensive career, with his time in the Bay Area perhaps being where he posted his best numbers and showcased his full talent. This earned him the opportunity to take the next step in his career by joining the Seahawks.

In 17 games played (three of them as a starter), the tight end managed to score one touchdown, catching eleven passes for 97 yards. Additionally, he only committed one fumble during his time in San Francisco.

It will be a matter of seeing how he fits into Macdonald’s system moving forward, and whether he’ll have the opportunity to shine on the field and build chemistry with his new QB, Sam Darnold.
