Le’Veon Bell’s departure from the New York Jets wasn’t as smooth as everybody would have liked. Bell had a problem with the way the team was using him and let them know, ultimately asking for a trade or just getting cut. He eventually got his wish granted and now is ready to go against his former team.

The Jets cut him and it didn’t take long before he found another team in the NFL. Bell signed with the Kansas City Chiefs a couple of days after leaving the Jets and he seems to be very comfortable playing under legendary coach Andy Reid.

This week he’s facing the Jets and of course, the duel against his former team is interesting. Jets head coach Adam Gase was asked about facing Bell for the first time since they part ways with the player, claiming that Bell is probably focused on helping his team win regardless of the rival.

Adam Gase deflects question on facing Le’Veon Bell

The young head coach didn’t want to talk in depth about Le’Veon, limiting himself to say he’s just focused on helping his new team win and the Jets are going to Kansas with the same mindset.

“Yeah, I’m pretty sure that he’s going to be worried about just winning a game, period,” Gase said. “That’s what most players are worried about. They’re worried about, ‘Hey, what do I have to do this week to help my team win?’ So, I’m sure that’s what he’s going to be worried about doing. We’ve got a lot of guys to worry about on that side of the ball against them.”

Another protagonist of this duel is Sam Darnold, who is ready to see his former teammate and greet him since there is no bad blood between them.

“For me, seeing Le’Veon is going to be awesome personally,” Darnold said. “Whether it’s before the game or after, [he’s] just someone that I built a good relationship with for the last year and just to be able to see him again, that’s going to be good. But I’m not sure about anything he has against us or anything like that.”

During his first game with the Chiefs, Bell had six carries for 39 yards, an average of 6.5 yards per carry. He is ready to continue improving his level with the Chiefs and try to return to be the player he once was with the Pittsburgh Steelers

He’s showing flashes of that player and the Chiefs hope to have him fully back in no time.
