Will this finally be the season the Cleveland Browns make some noise in the NFL? Kevin Stefanski believes so, even without a defined starting quarterback for the season opener. The HC is awaiting the return of Deshaun Watson from his serious injury, although he does not guarantee his immediate return to the starting role.

During a recent conversation with NFL Network’s Steve Wyche, the Brownsā€˜ HC addressed Watson’s situation, as he suffered a serious Achilles injury last season that forced him to miss the entire campaign with his team.

When asked about the possibility of the former Texans quarterback playing once recovered, Stefanski was clear with his response: ā€œWe’ll see where he is as he gets healthy.ā€

Undoubtedly, the quarterback position is something that needs to be resolved as soon as possible, given that it’s an area where the Browns have faced numerous issues in recent seasons.

The goal of staying healthy

A common denominator throughout last season in Cleveland was unfortunately the injuries that plagued the roster. That’s why Kevin Stefanski emphasized that it would be crucial to maintain a healthy roster, especially at the quarterback position.

ā€œI think that’s obviously the goal,ā€ Stefanski stated. ā€œI think you look at the teams that are having sustained success that comes from having that quarterback that’s there and healthy. Unfortunately, we haven’t been healthy at that position and that’s a huge challenge.ā€

The Browns, keeping an eye on the upcoming draft

One of the most important moments for teams to strengthen themselves with young, new talent is the NFL Draft. Once again, the Browns find themselves among the first franchises with the opportunity to make their pick, so every step is carefully studied to choose wisely and not waste an excellent chance to secure a new franchise player.

ā€œAs we go through this process, you try to identify are there guys that we believe in whether it’s in the first round or seventh round. Are there guys that we can get in our building and try to develop them,ā€ Stefanski said. ā€œI think that’s another thing people lose sight of thinking that these guys are finished products, but they are not. So, for us, whether it’s the quarterback position or any position, it’s about understanding that there is a jump that they are going to take over the course of their career.ā€œ
