Every time a rookie impresses, fans go wild. That’s the case with New York Giants fans as they saw rookie Jaxson Dart shining bright on his preseason debut after subbing in for Russell Wilson. The quarterback was spectacular and this fanbase has dealt with awful quarterbacking in the past, so you know they are excited as the NFL season approaches.
Being from New York, you can rest assured the fans were vocal on social media in all the ways possible. Some just highlighted his statline with some positive reviews. Others took it a step further.
Dart threw 12/19 for 154 yards and a beatiful touchdown pass. He also had three carries for 24 yards and led the Giants to three scores out of four possessions with him under center.
Giants fans are ecstatic!
Having a big game on a big market will give the fanbase reason to rejoice. Some others took it to hyperbolic levels, comparing Dart to the likes of NFL legends like Drew Brees, Tom Brady and more:
While those comparisons are very tough to live up to, Dart did show huge promise. He was composed, kept his cool and took great decisions while out there on the field.

Let’s pump the brakes on Dart, though
And yes! Even if Dart was great, the Giants fanbase shouldn’t expect him to start this season. The reality is that Russell Wilson will be their starter at least for 2025. Then, Dart might be the next man up.
However, the coaching staff wants an experienced signal-caller under center. Wilson is fresh off a Pro Bowl as well. Wilson completed 6/7 passes vs. Bills that ended up in a field goal.
