Offensive lineman Dieter Eiselen, who had been on the practice squad of the team led by Liam Coen, will not be considered by the coaching staff. As a result, the front office made the final decision to cut him from the current roster of the Jaguars.

The news was shared via the official X (formerly Twitter) account @Jaguars, where a brief message was posted announcing the decision to part ways with the former Yale player.

“We have waived OL Dieter Eiselen,” the Jaguars stated. On November 12, 2024, Eiselen was signed to the Jacksonville Jaguars practice squad, and weeks later, he signed a reserve/future contract on January 6.

In this latest free agency, Patrick Mekari, Robert Hainsey, Chuma Edoga, and Fred Johnson joined Liam Coen’s team, strengthening an area that has faced numerous challenges in recent seasons.

According to the latest reports, all signs point to Coen may give the starting roles to Mekari and Hainsey, with the former Ravens player at right guard and Hainsey at center.

Gladstone’s goal for the upcoming NFL season

James Gladstone has been appointed the new General Manager of the Jacksonville Jaguars for the upcoming NFL season, and he’s already starting to make his mark. As he settles into his role, Gladstone is beginning to outline his vision for the team’s roster, focusing on strategic moves that reflect his long-term objectives for building a competitive and sustainable squad.

“I do think that we answered some questions there with our decisions here in pro-free agency, addressing both center and guard, as well as the tackle position,” the GM said to the press earlier this month.

“Clearly by signing three of those players, and that being the most at any one position over the course of the free agent window, we’re setting the standard for what we’re actually looking to do and that doesn’t count offensive line out of the equation in the draft either. But at the same time, that’s another position that does have attrition throughout the course of a season, so we’ll never feel like we’ve got enough.”
