There’s a sense of change in the air for the Jacksonville Jaguars — not just within the coaching staff and front office, but also on the field. New head coach Liam Coen will have the privilege of working with one of college football’s top prospects, Travis Hunter, whose impact is expected to be significant as he begins his NFL journey.

The former Colorado Buffaloes standout emerges as one of the rising stars of this Jaguars team, although there’s still no certainty about which position he’ll ultimately play on the field. Nevertheless, team executives remain impressed by his remarkable talent and versatility.

James Gladstone, the franchise’s general manager, spoke to the media and shared his thoughts on the versatile player now at Coen’s disposal and his decision to play both WR and CB, just like in college.

“He does not tire,” he said to Andrew Siciliano on SiriusXM NFL Radio. “He’s got a spark, he’s got the energy, the capacity from a physical standpoint to be able to be able to do it is certainly there.”

While wearing the Buffaloes’ colors under head coach Deion Sanders, Hunter managed to shine both as a cornerback and as a wide receiver, putting up impressive stats on both sides of the ball.

Although there’s still no official word on what position Hunter will play for the Jaguars, all signs currently point to head coach Liam Coen leaning toward using him primarily as a WR, rather than on the defensive side of the ball.
