The Jacksonville Jaguars have a lot of eyes on them. Whether it’s people wondering about Travis Hunter or questioning if Trevor Lawrence will once again have a Pro-Bowl season, the fact is the Jags are under the spotlight of many. The quarterback has a new weapon too and according to him, this new player can be a threat to the NFL.

Dyami Brown played his first four seasons at Washington. However, being on a depth chart with Terry McLaurin didn’t let Brown evolve into a first option. Brown did have his best season in 2024. He caught 308 yards and 1 touchdown. He also had 30 receptions in 40 targets, both career highs.

The Commanders signed Deebo Samuel, so Brown had to look elsewhere to progress his career. After a few practices, Trevor Lawrence is impressed by Brown’s skills and football IQ. Lawrence said about Brown, ā€œHis speed. Obviously, he is a threat down the field, which is important as a receiver who can stretch the field. But also, he’s a really, really smart football player.ā€

Brown is competing once again in a stacked WR room

Brown left Washington to evolve and have more targets, but he has to fight for them in Jacksonville. There’s no such thing as a free meal in the NFL, hence Brown is ready to fight for his spot.

The Jaguars have a top-tier wideout in Brian Thomas Jr. Entering his second year, ā€˜BTJ’ is looking to solidify himself as a top receiver in the league. He racked up 1,282 yards and 10 touchdowns. Not only that, but Jacksonville drafted WR/CB Travis Hunter, who is poised to be a generational talent.

Brown can actually help Hunter

Travis Hunter is set to play on both positions. This means he will have a physical toll. Having Brown on the roster, he can not only open up spaces for Hunter with his vertical threat, but take some snaps where the rookie might need some rest.

With Lawrence’s early admiration for Brown, it’s likely that he will trust the receiver. New head coach Liam Coen also knows how to distribute the ball properly. Last season, he was the offensive coordinator for the Buccaneers. There, he drew plays that benefitted pass catchers. Seven different players surpassed the 300 receiving yards, so Brown should be calmed about his role in this offense.
