Leonard Fournette is the most mentioned name among NFL fans right now, and not because of his fantasy appeal for the upcoming season. Shockingly, the Jacksonville Jaguars waived him on Monday three years after taking him with the 4th overall pick of the Draft.

Fournette cleared waivers as expected and is now a free agent eligible to sign with the team he pleases. And, while there was a report that stated that he wanted to play for the Los Angeles Rams, coach Sean McVay already ruled out that possibility.

Even so, it seems like there are several teams interested in entering Fournette’s sweepstakes. Moreover, the teams closing in and looking to make a move at him know him pretty well, as they’ve suffered him for three years in the AFC East.

Miami Dolphins Will Look To Sign Leonard Fournette

Even though the Miami Dolphins have already signed Pro-Bowl running back Jordan Howard, adding Leonard Fournette is still a possibility for them, according to a report from Josh Tolentino of The Athletic.

“Like all players, we’ll see if it’s a good fit for us. If we do, we’ll make a move, head coach Brian Flores told the media as the rumors of their interest in adding the elite tackle-breaker ahead of the 2020 season.

New England Patriots Interested In Signing Leonard Fournette

However, it seems like the Dolphins will have to go toe-to-toe with the New England Patriots for Fournette. The Patriots and Washington Football Team were reportedly the first two teams to show interest in him but were unwilling to absorb the $4 million in his contract so they didn’t claim him off waivers.

Now that he’s free, Bill Belichick will reportedly look to revamp his ground offense, as their core of Sony Michel, James White, Rex Burkhead, Damien Harris, and Lamar Miller has a lot of room for improvement. They’re currently the betting favorites to land Fournette and Cam Newton would be thrilled to have him in the backfield, for sure.
