Aaron Rodgers admitted in an interview with The Pat McAfee Show that he did, in fact, visit the Pittsburgh Steelers. Although that seemed to bring him closer to Mike Tomlin’s team, the quarterback made it clear that he’s in no rush to make a decision and that, as a result, they can rule him out at any time without regrets.
“This is my life. My personal life is different now. I have stuff in the inner circle. I’ve been up front with them about that. I said: ‘Listen, if you need to move on, if you need to do something, by all means.’ Nothing but love and respect if that’s the decision that needs to be made. There’s been no deadline and, yes, I’ve talked to Mike Tomlin many times.”
Considering this scenario, the cards are on the table. If Tomlin believes Rodgers is the key to competing for the Super Bowl next season, he’ll wait for him to sort out his personal matters. If not, he’ll probably look for a quarterback in the draft.
Who will be next Steelers’ starting quarterback?
Aaron Rodgers, Mason Rudolph, or a rookie are the three remaining options to be the starting quarterback for the Pittsburgh Steelers. All the high-caliber free agents, like Geno Smith or Sam Darnold, are no longer available.
What’s become very clear is that Rodgers is in no hurry, so if Pittsburgh truly loves the veteran that much, they’ll have to deal with the pressure from fans and the media while waiting for him.
