The upcoming NFL season looks promising for a Houston Texans team aiming to maintain its lead in the AFC South. Just days ago, the addition of a new offensive weapon for CJ Stroud was confirmed — and if he stays healthy, he could become a serious threat to opposing defenses.

Nick Chubb joined the Texans in recent days, further strengthening a backfield that was already one of the most solid in its division. The big question now centers on his physical condition — following a serious injury, his ability to perform at a high level for DeMeco Ryans’ team remains uncertain.

With Joe Mixon confirmed as the team’s RB1, the arrival of the former Browns standout is expected to provide valuable depth at the position, giving CJ Stroud more options to execute the offense and diversify the attack during games.

Chubb’s excitement for what’s ahead

With a history of difficult injuries in recent years, Chubb’s season with the Browns was cut short after suffering a serious foot injury. Still, the running back told the media he feels better than ever and is ready to take on a big season alongside his new teammates.

“That’s all behind me. Injuries happen,” he told reporters. “With what I did, it takes about two years to really get back. So, I’m over the hump. Now, I’m feeling as good as I have been in a long time.

“Probably while I was at home during my offseason training,” he said when asked when he felt back to himself. “I hit all my numbers that I usually do in the offseason, so speed and weights and things like that.”

A Texans offense to be feared

The Houston Texans are quietly putting together one of the most versatile offenses in the league. With Joe Mixon set as the RB1 and Nick Chubb joining as a powerful backup option, the backfield offers both explosiveness and depth, giving CJ Stroud multiple ways to attack defenses on the ground.

Through the air, Stroud will benefit from the addition of Christian Kirk, who brings experience and reliable hands from his time in Jacksonville. Nico Collins continues to emerge as a top target, and if Tank Dell returns healthy, the Texans will have one of the most dynamic receiving corps in the AFC.

This well-rounded unit gives Houston the tools to stay aggressive and unpredictable. With Stroud at the helm and more talent around him than ever, the Texans’ offense could become a real problem for opposing defenses in 2025.
