The New England Patriots are in desperate need to get back to their glory days in the NFL. Last season, a great first step was taken when they drafted quarterback Drake Maye. For this season, they hired the head coach Mike Vrabel and among other things, strengthen their receiving corp as well.
One of them was third-round pick Kyle Williams from Washington State. On Thursday during a youth football clinic, the rookie said, âMy mindset is donât drop the money.â Plain and simple. âEvery time the ball is there, thatâs a bag of money, we canât let that hit the floor because [then] thatâs somebody elseâs. So, just being able to make those plays, showing I can compete against those top-tier guys in the league.â
When youâre a receiver, thatâs a great motto to have. One of the best abilities that you can have is having great hands, being a safe target for your QB, in this case, Drake Maye.
Kyle Williams might have a key role on offense
The Patriots signed Stefon Diggs to be their first option in the passing offense. However, Diggsâ actions this offseason have been concerning as heâs seen partying and else outside of the field. The team has even questioned whether Diggs will be on the team or not.

Stefon Diggs #1 of the Houston Texans warms up prior to playing the New England Patriots at Gillette Stadium on October 13, 2024 in Foxborough, Massachusetts.
With this in mind, and seeing that the rest of the receivers in that group are not top-tier level, Williams will have a chance to prove himself in the NFL. At Washington State, his final season marked 1,198 yards and 14 touchdowns. He led the conference in both of those categories.

A new era is brewing in New England
After the Bellichick-Brady era, it was the natural course of life that the team was going to have to rebuild. However, the Patriotsâ patience is wearing thin, hence the amount of changes in the last couple of years.
Now with Vrabel, who played for the team, they will try to reinstall that culture in the locker room. The Pats also brought back offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels, who was a key assistant for Belichick. The Patriots are bringing back those guys who led the franchise to the glory to have a new winning era.
