NFL News: Falcons sign new player amid rumors of Kirk Cousins possible trade to Browns

The Atlanta Falcons have shaken off the rumors of Kirk Cousins potentially becoming the quarterback for the Cleveland Browns in the 2025 NFL season. The news has created uncertainty surrounding the veteran quarterback of the NFC South franchise, which has moved quickly to sign a kicker.

On Wednesday night, news spread that the Browns were considering making a trade offer for Cousins for next season, with the goal of securing a starting quarterback to replace the injured Deshaun Watson.

The possibility of signing Cousins in exchange for a 2026 fifth-round draft pick gains traction after the 36-year-old quarterback lost the starting job to Michael Penix Jr. However, his four-year, $180 million contract and no-trade clause mean that if the deal progresses, negotiations would take place after the 2025 NFL Draft. For this reason, the Falcons are not worried and proceed with a new move.

The player joining the Falcons alongside Cousins is none other than kicker Lenny Krieg, as reported by Mike Garafolo on his X (formerly Twitter). Atlanta has agreed to terms with the German-born player one day after he kicked at the NFL’s International Player Pathway program pro day.
