Mike Tomlin and the Pittsburgh Steelers could surprise the NFL in the coming days with a trade, according to a report by Jordan Schultz. With the possible arrival of Aaron Rodgers, they need to strengthen the wide receiver position.
“The Steelers have had preliminary conversations with multiple teams about potentially adding another playmaker on offense to complement DK Metcalf, per multiple sources. Pittsburgh is believed to be motivated to get a deal done at some point, though there’s still plenty of time before the season. The Steelers could have up to 12 picks in the 2026 NFL Draft.”
A few weeks ago, Pittsburgh traded away George Pickens to the Dallas Cowboys. In this scenario, they would be looking for a WR2 to compete for a return to the Super Bowl in a very crowded AFC.
Steelers might trade for a wide receiver
Although Jordan Schultz did not reveal the name of the player the Steelers might target, Chris Olave from the Saints has emerged as a strong option. As free agents, Gabe Davis and Keenan Allen are also available.
However, if we’re specifically talking about a trade, the reality is that there aren’t many names likely to be moved by their current teams. One star involved in the rumors is Tyreek Hill, but it doesn’t seem likely that he’ll be leaving Miami. If Rodgers ends up signing with the Steelers, a reunion with Allen Lazard could also be considered.
