Mike Tomlin and the Pittsburgh Steelers have no intention of trading George Pickens. That was the response from general manager Omar Khan when asked whether Pickens being in the final year of his contract would play a role in trying to recover the second-round pick they lost in the trade with the Seahawks for DK Metcalf.
âNo. I mean, weâre glad we have George (Pickens) and DK (Metcalf) here. I think theyâre going to be exciting for everyone to watch. Weâre excited to have DK here but, no. No.â
Over the past few weeks, the lack of a contract extension for Pickens has led to the receiver being seen as one of the top assets for a potential trade involving the Steelers. However, Khanâs stance is clear: George is key to building a Super Bowl contender.
Will George Pickens get contract extension with Steelers?
The Steelers have shown no signs of giving George Pickens a contract extension anytime soon, and that has sparked rumors about a possible trade to get something in return before the star wide receiver becomes a free agent.
Despite that, Omar Khan sounds convinced that he wants to see Pickens on the field alongside DK Metcalf, and once the 2025 season ends, theyâll talk about either giving him a big paycheck or letting him walk.
